I use Netscape on a Macintosh, and the Java SSH client doesn't seem to
work in my browser. What should I do?
The Macintosh version of Netscape comes with a Java interpreter which does
not implement the full Java 1.1 standard. Unfortunately, some of the missing
features in its Java implementation are needed by MindTerm. Apple has an
updated version of the Java runtime (MRJ) available for free download at
http://www.apple.com/java/. If you
download and install Apple's update to the MRJ package on your Macintosh,
you'll find a README file which includes instructions for using MRJ as a
"plug-in" for Netscape on the Macintosh. MindTerm works properly with the
plug-in, but not with the default Java implementation for Mac Netscape.
Alternatively, you can use Internet Explorer for the Macintosh; its Java
implementation supports the full Java 1.1 standard and can properly run
MindTerm.
I just get "Applet mindbright.application.MindTerm class
mindbright.application.MindTerm could not be loaded", what's going wrong?
You are likely running from an outdated browser which does not contain a
complete java 1.1.x runtime envrionment. In order to use MindTerm, you need to be
using a more modern browser -- Netscape v4.1 or higher, or Internet Explorer
v5.0 or higher.
When I start the applet in Netscape under Linux the terminal-window get's
displaced off the screen so I can't see the window-title.
This seems to be a bug in the Netscape java-runtime in some versions of Linux.
Check the "Window position" setting under "Terminal Settings" in the MindTerm window
and make sure that it's not enabled.
